In 1999, Chris moved to London to study Public Art. Living in such an energetic and multi-cultural city, he soon became fascinated with the chaotic and turbulent way of modern metropolitan life. Throughout the 2001 London Series photographic project, he continuously invites the audience to visualize and physically feel the energy within a static image. Based on movement and time, the work tries to exhibit the beauty and complexity of everyday life, which is so often neglected.
In 2003 Chris moved to Tokyo, in search of new material and experience. Throughout the 2003/04 Japan Series, he tries to capture the contrasting elements found in a city full of contradiction and ambiguity. From the sprawling skyline of the city, to the quaint back streets of Omori, Tokyo truly is a photographers dream.
His work is based on the perception of the world around him. Based on studies of still life and natural forms, wildlife, to vivid urban landscapes, he continuously strives to capture images about a natural world full of elegance and social order, which can sometimes prove to be very difficult.
Chris has always had a strong interest in listening to and producing music. Having played the guitar and sung for many years, he is always looking for new and exciting ingredients to add to his musical formulas. He is currently in the process of recording his first album, using a digital studio, which will allow him to distribute downloadable mp3 files via this website.
After completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, specializing in Art for Secondary (ages 11-18), and teaching art & design in a secondary school in the UK, Chris returned to live in Tokyo for four years. While living in Tokyo Chris held exhibitions and public broadcasts, at the same time he also completed an MA in Digital Art (online) at Camberwell College of Art, London. He has recently relocated to Singapore, and enjoying the new experience. He is working on numerous art based projects, including teaching, exhibiting and working on his debut album.
